Inspired from the ttung-carons (뚱카롱)—giant versions of its dainty-looking French cousins, which literarily translates to ‘fat-carons’ for its sheer size and over-the-top appearance, Serena from Nanatang, created fatfatcarons–the plus-sized versions of fatcarons.

We want you to taste different texture and experience flavs within each piece of goodness. Only for those who appreciate good quality made-with-love masterpiece.

Since we are the original creators of fatfatcarons, that means there’s no other baking studio in Singapore that you can learn to make this delectable, texture-rich delight!

You will have to firstly ask yourself if you are looking for a fun and casual experience or want to turn baking into a full-time career.

Some very affordable class (such as classes from community centers) might be just a demonstration session without hands-on. Classes with longer duration tends to be more hands-on and technique-focused.

Entry level classes within $200 tends is a good starting point to start your baking journey.

Baking Class FAQs

Many started off learning by watching a lot of YouTube videos and thereby starts to do trials and errors baking. It can seems to be a low cost option. However, based on feedback given, many failed making a product just by following instructions on YouTube blindly. This ends up wasting a lot of ingredients and time which equals to money.

We strongly recommend learning with a professionally trained instructor instead! Only experienced instructors can guide you well and highlight what to take note of and also explain the concept/theories behind each step of baking (which YouTube will not tell you that). Yes, absolutely! There are so many options these days. However, nanatang do not provide online classes as we believe that learning how to bake needs to be hands-on and with physical guidance. For most online classes, they work like YouTube video. You can only watch the video tutorials and there is no guidance on-the-spot. Again, it seems like a low cost option but it is also an inefficient method.

Though we feel that there is no such thing as “The Best”, we believe a good baking course has the following elements:

– Friendly instructor who is very willing to share

– You are able to replicate the baking results at home

– You can still reach out to the instructor even after the class and ask for advices when you try baking at home

Over here at nanatang, we are very particular about the learning experience. We want everyone to bring home their products with satisfaction and lots of knowledge and lifetime skills. Whether is it a good skill or not, the first thing to ask yourself is whether you like baking or not. Without any interest in baking, you will not do it full heartedly. Again, we believe there is no such thing as “it is a good skill”. It depends on how you perceive it and how you make use of the skills. What we can promise is baking will be a therapeutic process if you enjoy it.

Absolutely but provided if you practice it regularly. If you learn but don’t practice, you will forget about it. In our baking classes, we always encourage learners to practice and get familiarise. Practice makes perfect, remember?

Most of our classes are 3-hours each, starting from $168. There are full day masterclasses as well, and of course they can range higher from $400 onwards. Every class is created and planned meticulously. We are in the best position to advice how much time is needed to learn and how the class should be conducted. Overall, our aim is to have everyone bring home their own masterpieces and lifetime skills and knowledge. 

Absolutely not. That’s why our classes are a hot favourite among those who love to bake and enjoy their sweet treats, but hate washing up.

We’re a 7 minute walk away from Outram MRT at 41 Kampong Bahru Rd, Singapore 169358. There are many buses available as well.

Unfortunately, our baking classes are not Skills Future claimable due to the shorter duration of our classes (3 hours as opposed to the required 8 hours for all Skills Future courses) and also we are non-examinable.

Students come to us because they prefer an efficient, fuss-free and relaxing class where they don’t have to spend a whole day just for one finished product.

We’re confident in our 99.99% success rate. But in the off-chance that you don’t succeed, we’ll let you bring our own batch of products home for free, so you can still share these delectable delights with your loved ones!

  1. Flower piping requires a lot of practices and patience
  2. Working in a cooled area is better, as the buttercream will melt fast especially if you are a beginner
  3. Have a fridge near you and always chill your buttercream if it starts to melt
  4. No one is born a talent! Do expect to have not-so-great results in the beginning (Serena’s flowers were not nice at all when she first started)
  5. It is super difficult to learn over education video channels such as youtube. It is always easier to see than do. There is no one guiding you to spot your mistakes and how to make adjustments. You are going to always be stuck at one level.
