Signature Fatfatcaron Class Singapore

Popular Baking Classes and Courses offered Nanatang

The Fatfatcaron, a one-of-a-kind creation by Serena, is the heart of Nanatang’s baking legacy. You can learn how to make this exclusive dessert in Nanatang’s Signature Fatfatcaron Class!

These Fatfatcarons are not the usual ones that are purely filled with whole chunks of cream. Inspired by the ttung-carons (뚱카롱)—giant versions of their dainty French cousins (macarons), which literally translates to ‘fat-carons’ due to their sheer size and over-the-top appearance—the Fatfatcarons were born, serving as the plus-sized versions of fatcarons.

We want you to experience a variety of textures and flavours within each piece of goodness. This is for those who truly appreciate high-quality, made-with-love masterpieces. As the original creators of Fatfatcarons, we can proudly say that there’s no other baking studio in Singapore where you can learn to make this delectable, texture-rich delight!Learn more.

Cake Decorating Class Singapore

Baking is one thing. Decorating is an entirely new world!

Making cakes and pastries beautiful is important. When they look more appealing, people are more likely to want to eat them. Most importantly, people admire them first and take nice photos for memories. We first eat with our eyes!

Nanatang first started with Korean Flower Piping classes. From Korean glossy buttercream and Korean beanpaste flowers to chocolate cream flowers, be amazed by how beautiful these floral details are! On top of that, the icing is fully edible, unlike using inedible fresh flowers to decorate your cakes.

Nanatang also offers decorating classes that are perfect for you to bring your child along. Come have fun and enjoy the bonding experience. Most importantly, no washing required (YAY!). Feel free to make a mess, and let us handle all the cleaning up. You can focus on your child, and bring home the precious, beautiful treats that the two of you made together! It’s like an art and craft class, but with scrumptious, edible creations.

How Do I Choose a Suitable Baking Class or Workshop?

You will first need to ask yourself whether you’re looking for a fun and casual experience or if you want to turn baking into a full-time career.

Some very affordable classes (such as those from community centres) might only be demonstration sessions without hands-on experience. Classes with a longer duration tend to be more hands-on and technique-focused.

Entry-level classes under $200 are a good starting point for your baking journey.

Classes above $200 tend to provide deeper insights into baking and often feature overseas celebrity chefs such as the handsome Charles Liets from London, Dream Cake creator Lumascake from Paris, and the famous Warmcake (Crystal) from Korea.

All in all, these baking classes are meant for those who are serious about learning and want to skip the frustration of failed baking attempts from watching YouTube videos. They are for those who want to accelerate their learning, excel, and achieve good results in the shortest period of time.

With the rise of social media platforms such as Instagram, be sure to check out the Instagram accounts of various baking studios to view some of their work. A beautifully decorated, Instagram-worthy cake might just catch your attention and inspire you to join their class in hopes of creating the exact same cake to show off on your very own Instagram account!

Frequently Asked Questions About Baking Classes (FAQs)

Why is it not recommended to rely solely on YouTube videos for learning baking?

Many people start off by learning through YouTube videos, which leads them to experiment with trial and error in baking. While it may seem like a low-cost option, feedback shows that many people fail to make a product just by blindly following instructions on YouTube. This often results in wasting ingredients and time, which ultimately costs money.

We strongly recommend learning from a professionally trained instructor instead! Only experienced instructors can provide proper guidance, highlight important details, and explain the concepts and theories behind each step of baking—something YouTube won’t teach you. There are many baking studios in Singapore, including us at Nanatang. Do check us out on our website!

Are online baking classes good, and why doesn’t Nanatang offer them?

There truly are so many options these days, including online baking classes. However, Nanatang does not offer online workshops, as we believe that learning how to bake requires hands-on experience and physical guidance. Most online classes work like YouTube videos, where you can only watch the tutorials without any on-the-spot guidance. While it may seem like an affordable option, it is ultimately an inefficient method.

Though we believe there is no such thing as the “best” baking class, we do feel a good baking course should have the following elements:

  • A friendly instructor who is very willing to share
  • The ability to replicate the baking results at home
  • Ongoing support, where you can reach out to the instructor even after the class for advice when baking at home

At Nanatang, we are very particular about the learning experience. We want everyone to leave with a sense of satisfaction, plenty of knowledge, and lifelong skills. If you haven’t tried our baking classes yet, now is the time! Check out our upcoming baking class schedule.

Is baking really a good skill to learn?

Whether it’s a good skill or not, the first thing to ask yourself is whether you enjoy baking. Without any interest in it, you won’t be able to fully commit. Again, we believe there is no such thing as “a good skill” in a general sense—it depends on how you perceive it and how you choose to apply the skills. What we can promise is that baking will be a therapeutic process if you enjoy it!

Can I be good at baking just by attending baking classes?

Certainly, but that’s only if you practise regularly. If you learn but don’t practise, you’ll quickly forget what you’ve learnt. In our baking classes, we always encourage learners to practise and get familiar with the techniques. Practice makes perfect, remember?

How much are Nanatang’s baking classes?

Most of our classes are 3 hours long, starting from $168. We also offer full-day masterclasses, which can range from $400 onwards. Every class is carefully created and planned. We are in the best position to advise on how much time is needed to learn and how the class should be conducted. Overall, our goal is for everyone to leave with their own masterpieces, along with valuable skills and knowledge that will last a lifetime.

Is Nanatang the wrong choice for me if I don’t want to clean up after baking?

Absolutely not. That’s why our classes are a hot favourite among those who love to bake and enjoy their sweet treats, but hate the cleanup afterwards!

How can I get to your baking studio?

We’re just a 7-minute walk from Outram MRT, located at 41 Kampong Bahru Rd, Singapore 169358. There are also plenty of buses available nearby.

Can I use my SkillsFuture credit for Nanatang’s classes, and what is the passing rate?

Unfortunately, our baking classes are not SkillsFuture credit claimable due to the shorter duration of our classes (3 hours, as opposed to the required 8 hours for all SkillsFuture courses) and because we are non-examinable.

Students come to us because they prefer an efficient, fuss-free, and relaxing class where they don’t have to spend an entire day just to complete one finished product.

We’re confident in our 99.99% success rate. But in the rare event that you don’t succeed, we’ll let you take home your own batch of products for free, so you can still share these delectable delights with your loved ones!

Does Nanatang conduct workshops in small class sizes?

Of course! New students love our small class sizes because each student gets the right amount of attention, especially on their first try!

We’re here to hype you up for the challenge and get you excited to try new things!

Can I get a refund after booking a class?

Once you’ve made payment and confirmed your booking, we’re unable to offer a refund as we’ve already reserved your slot and prepped the ingredients for your class.
